TUTORS FOR
IGNITING IMPACT
We are a group of UC Davis students, alumni, and affiliates who are passionate and dedicated to offering engaging educational opportunities to incarcerated students, formerly incarcerated students, and those pursuing academic/educational goals that has been impacted by the carceral system.
MISSION STATEMENT.
"As a collective of tutors, we are building a platform from which incarcerated students and youth from the community can learn, practice, dream, and achieve their vision of a more enriched life inside and outside the system. We believe that education for all individuals reduces recidivism and empowers students to become community leaders and agents of change. We aim to center the voices of our students in everything we do and ground our work in unity for the common purpose of advancement, empowerment, and liberation of all."

OUR CORE VALUES.
PASSION
We want to make sure we approach all of our work with warmth, respect, and love. We do this work because our hearts are in it. We seek to be fully engaged in our work and our students. Through tutoring, we create a platform through which our students can explore and unlock their passions within and out of academia.
RESILIENCE
We acknowledge that resiliency is in all of us. As an organization, we have persevered and grown despite barriers that have held us down. It is about embracing our role in this work. Our students embody resiliency in that they overcome their own obstacles in life. Through education and empowerment, we recognize the experiences our students have had to amplify their ability to overcome challenges.
EDUCATION
Education will always go hand in hand with everything that we do. We value education as the primary tool that helps give our students a voice and what they need to succeed in our society. As tutors, we have a responsibility to educate ourselves on how to efficiently navigate sensitive situations and be better tutors for our students. We utilize education as a way to create new pathways, both for us and others. Education has the power to help us evolve and grow out of difficult times.
COMMUNITY
We seek to build strong relationships with each other and be a united front against systemic injustice. We are interested in partnering with others in our community to work together and bring lasting change. We want to advocate alongside and for our students. Community is important because we want to be inclusive to all individuals impacted by systemic injustice. We want to create a safe environment where we can share with one another. We are proactive about the approach we take to reduce stigma and raise awareness regarding system-impacted individuals in our community.
